What decides the price of a cloud server
- vCPU: the number of virtual processor cores.
- RAM: memory in GB, often the part that sets the plan size.
- Disk: NVMe storage in GB; NVMe is faster than SATA SSD at the same size.
- Operating system: Linux is free; Windows Server adds a licence per core.
- Public IPv4, bandwidth and DDoS protection: included by some providers, extra at others.
- Billing term: hourly, monthly or a prepaid term of up to three years.
- Tax: 18% GST in India, which a registered business can claim back.
The rate card, part by part
Every server here, plan or custom build, is priced from the same per-unit rate card. At the hourly list, one vCPU costs ₹90 a month, one GB of RAM ₹130 and one GB of NVMe disk ₹4. On a monthly plan those become ₹63, ₹91 and ₹2.80.
Add up the parts you need to get the price of any size, or let the server builder do it and show every term side by side. The smallest ready-made plan is ₹336 a month or ₹0.66 an hour. The Windows Server licence is included (₹0 per core today).
How the billing term changes the price
Hourly billing is the list price: you pay per started hour with a 1 hour minimum and can delete the server at any time. A monthly plan is 30% below that list, a yearly term 44% below it and a three-year term 65% below it.
Short or uncertain projects cost less on hourly billing. A server that runs all month costs less on a monthly plan once it runs for about 511 hours (roughly 21 days). The hourly vs monthly guide shows the break-even in detail.
GST and invoices
Prices on this site exclude GST. Indian customers pay 18% on top and get a GST tax invoice; with your GSTIN on the invoice, a business claims that GST back as input tax credit, so the real cost is the price before tax. See the GST invoice guide.
Customers outside India are billed in US dollars with no GST, paid by PayPal or card.
Costs to check before comparing prices
A low headline price can hide costs that appear later. Ask every provider about these before you compare:
- Bandwidth: is outbound traffic included, or billed per GB above a quota?
- DDoS protection: included in the plan, or an add-on that is only switched on after an attack?
- IPv4 address: included, or a monthly fee per address?
- Windows licence: included in the plan price, or added per core at checkout?
- Snapshots and backups: is one snapshot free, and what does a backup cost?
- Currency: is the price in rupees with a GST invoice, or in US dollars that change with the exchange rate and add card fees?
What is included here
Every server includes a public IPv4 address, a 1 Gbps port, Cloudflare Magic Transit DDoS protection, one free snapshot, a browser console and a GST invoice. The comparison page puts the same sizes side by side with AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, DigitalOcean and Linode, and the rate card guide lists every meter.
