Four ways to keep the bill down
Under about 21 days, stay hourly
Hourly is billed per started hour with a minimum of 1 hour. A monthly term costs 30% less than the hourly rate, so it only saves money if the server runs for about 21 days of the month or more.
Long terms cut the rate, not the risk
Annual is 44% below hourly and 36 months is 65% below. Take a long term for a server you know you will keep; test on hourly first.
Delete what you are not using
On hourly billing a stopped server still pays for its disk: ₹0.11 an hour on the smallest size, against ₹0.92 running. Deleting it stops the bill completely.
Start small and resize
You can move up to a larger size from the panel when the server needs it, so there is no reason to buy room you might need next year.

The renewal price
Some offers show a first-term price well below what you pay after it. Compare what you pay in year two, not only on the first invoice.
What is extra
A public IP, outbound traffic, snapshots and DDoS protection are charged separately by some hosts. Add them up before you compare.
CPU and RAM
Ask whether RAM is reserved for you and how much CPU you can really sustain. A low price can reflect a heavily shared host.
Invoice and currency
If your business claims input credit, you need a GST invoice from an Indian entity. A dollar invoice adds forex charges and reverse charge paperwork.
When a cheap VPS is the wrong buy
- A busy database or a shop with real revenue: size for the load, not the price.
- An app that must survive a server failing: one VPS is one point of failure, so look at managed Kubernetes or a second server.
- If you do not want to run a server at all: app hosting deploys the app for you.

Is a cheap VPS good enough for WordPress?
For a small site with caching, 2 GB of RAM is a sensible start, and you can move to a larger size from the panel when traffic grows. A busy shop should start larger.
Can I run Windows on a cheap VPS?
Not on these three sizes. Windows Server needs at least 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM and a 100 GB disk, so choose a Windows VPS plan, which is sized for it. The licence is included (₹0 per core today).
What do I give up with a low-priced VPS?
