Running or stopped, the IP is free
An hourly server keeps its public IPv4 at no charge while it runs and while it is powered off. A stopped server pays for its disk only.
After 3 days off, the IP is released
A server left powered off for 3 days in a row gives its IP back to the pool. You get an email and a WhatsApp message after 2 days, and a final notice before the release; the release time is also shown on the server page in IST. Your server and its data are not affected.
Starting it again
Power on as usual. The server gets the same IP if that address is still free, otherwise a new one. With a new IP the server page shows it; update your DNS records and firewall allow-lists, and open a ticket if you need reverse DNS (PTR) on the new address.
Keep the IP: Reserve IP
On the server page, in the Network card, turn on Reserve IP. While it is on, the IP is never released; it costs ₹0.50 per hour while the server is stopped and nothing while it runs. Turn it off at any time; the count then starts again from that moment.
Monthly and longer plans are prepaid with the IP included and are not affected. Through the API, `POST /api/v1/services/<id>/reserve-ip` with `"reserved": true` does the same; the MCP tool is `reserve_server_ip`, and `GET /api/v1/services/<id>` shows `ip_policy` (reserved, release time, notice).
